This week with university we visited Impression Gallery in Bradford, this is the first time I have visited this gallery. Nalini by Arpita Shah was the current exhibition at that time on at Impressions. I enjoyed looking at her work but what I was mainly drawn to was how the work was put together and how the space was curated.
I had the opportunity to speak to Angela at impression and asked her a few questions regarding to the Pop-up exhibition, which will be taken place in the next two weeks. I started talking to her about what advice she could give me for putting together 28 pieces of work, which is all different. I then got talking about the different materials which was used in Arpita’s exhibition as asked why she chose to have a variety of different fabrications and not just sticking to the one type.
I have thought about trying out different materials for my final degree show but wasn’t sure if mixing the fabrications would look a bit odd. Angela did tell me with the more delicate work Arpita decided to frame and fabricated differently so it would stand out. I also noticed that there was a mixture of photographs and physical objects which related to the project, some of the object were what you seen in the photographs, but it was very touching to see the physicality of the object along with the photograph.
