Talking with Tom Duffield

I had an impromptu talk with Tom today about my project and where it has gone since I last seen him. I benefited from showing Tom my work as he seen it near to the start when I was struggling and then being able to see the development up to know I got some reassurance that he had seen an improvement which I always good the hear. He suggested for me to make sure I have a form of consistency throughout my work, whether that would be the portrait shots of the farmers up close or the way I light the subjects. He also told me to try and get a variety of photographs of the farmer working and standing front on.

He picked out this image below, and said the way the woman has been photographed and for some reason it drew him in more than the rest of the images from that shoot. It could be the way the wind had caught her hair and how she doesn’t look like the stereotypical farmer. She looks rather glamorous.

I appreciate Tom’s work which he produced and the journey he has been on since graduating from University is inspiring to me and I would one day like to achieve a fraction of what Tom has already done in his photography career so early on.
