I have decided that I want to try printing on blushed aluminium for the Pop-Up show. I went into the print bureau and inquired what type of printing I could do and conclude that the UV would be the best option to try first. Unfortunately, the maximum they can print is A3 and 5mm thick, so I stuck with the A3 but choice to go for a 3mm thickness. I managed to get 3 sheets of aluminium from amazon in such sort time for £25, I was very happy with that price.
Using the UV printer, I had to make sure that my files were a TIFF and the correct size to the material size. I then had some help with printing since this was my first time doing it. I found the experience a little bit nervous to start with as I wasn’t too sure what to expect. After I got showed how to do the first one I managed to set up and line up my next two prints (I got them checked first before I pressed complete).
I chose to do 2 print overlay on them as I wanted to still see the texture of the aluminium through the pieces of work. I felt doing the 2 print overlay instead of 4 gave the photographs a bit of life, with the texture coming through I felt it made the photos become more intriguing than they originally were on paper.
